One of the most influential players in the world of poker, Brunson has been cashing in his chips for over 50 years and has won 10 World Series of Poker bracelets. He began playing the game as a youth and he was once a basketball prospect before suffering a serious broken leg. Afterward he began playing in illegal contest in Fort Worth, Texas and he eventually settled in Las Vegas. Since 1970, he has been a regular player in the World Series of Poker and has appeared in the main event nearly every year. After consecutive wins, he published Super/System, which is considered to be one of the most respected books about poker. His influence on Texas holdem extends to the fact that two hands are named in his honor and he has won over $6,000,000 during his legendary career. He is a member of the Poker Hall of Fame.
