Scotty Nguyen 2010 Sportkings Series D #166 Base Poker Trading Card
Born in Vietnam, Nguyen came to the United States as a teenager and developed a love for the game of poker that would lead him to dizzying heights and depressing lows throughout his career. He became a dealer at the age of 21 but encountered hard luck as he honed his craft. In 1985, it all turned around as he built up an impressive bank roll but lost it after living the high life. He would earn his first bracelet at the 1997 World Series of Poker Omaha 8 or Better and won the No Limit Hold'em World Championship the next year. From 2000-2004, he finished in the money in over 100 events and he would finally win a World Poker Tour event in 2006. Two years later, he was the victor at the H.O.R.S.E. World championship and became the first player to combine this honor with the WSOP Main Event. As of 2009, his career winnings were over $10,000,000.
